Renaming and Sequencing Your Bitmap and Jpeg FilesIf you take digital photos or scan images the chances are that, over time, you've got a lot of folders with a lot of images. Many of the folders can hold image files with names identical to files in other folders. Trying to find a particular file can be a challenging task.
As one example of AIPS renaming look at the following example. It shows renaming 100 files with meaningful names while maintaining the sequence of the files. In the example, 100 scanned image files are selected.
After selecting the files, we choose renaming options that will remove the sequence numbers from the end of the filenames, and replace the "scan" string with a much more descriptive "yellowstone" string. Finally, we add a new 4 character sequence number, starting at 1, at the beginning of the new name.
After clicking the "Rename" button a new form opens showing the old names alongside the new names for comparison.
Selecting "All" will rename all the files with new names, close the comparison form, return to the renaming main form and replace the selected file names with the new file names.
Note: At this point we might be done as we have completed renaming all the files. We could continue on however by clicking the copy button to copy the files to another folder, an SD card, a memory stick, or perhaps directly to our digital photo frame or Mp3 player.
